The new season of Lipstick Jungle is set to premiere on September 24th. This show satisfies my desire for clothes, shoes, jewelry and makeup. Okay it doesn’t really satisfy my desire – I just can’t get enough of all the girly stuff. The stars of the show Lindsay Price, Kim Raver and the amazing Brooke Shields always look fabulous. So to celebrate the new season, I’m having a party. I can’t wait to get dressed really cute, put on some makeup, set up my snacks and gaze lovingly at all the fabulous fashions on Lipstick Jungle.

You ladies know I have a ‘thing’ for mascara. Which is perfect because Maybelline has a new mascara called The Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara. I know it even sounds fabulous! The formula has collagen and this mascara comes in Classic Black. They claim to pump your eyelashes 9x with just one coat. In just one coat! This sounds like the mascara for me.

Since we’re entering autumn (my favourite season ever!), this season’s must have is lipstick. Yeah, no more lipgloss – actual lipstick! Its a must have for fall. A beautiful lipstick instantly gives you a ‘lift’. Maybelline has a fabulous new lipstick, Mineral Power lipstick.

I know what you’re saying to yourself, what does makeup have to do with Tiffany’s party? Well here’s the deal, I’m inviting you to my Lipstick Jungle ‘party’. Send me your email address and I will send you an invite. The first 10 ladies to CONFIRM that they will be attending my ‘party’ will receive Maybelline’s new Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara AND Maybelline Mineral Power Lipstick in Healthy Rose.

Be sure to email me at Tiffanyr@HappyHousewivesClub.com

Here’s to looking fabulous!

With the unofficial start (Labor Day) of autumn behind us, now comes the time when we start incorporating more fall pieces into our wardrobe. Yes, I know that it ‘feels’ warm outside – but summer is almost over and its time to put away the pretty sundress…at least until next year.

There are so many new trends to get excited about this fall. One of my favourites is the blouse – specifically the ruffled blouse. They can be satin or gossamer thin, short sleeve or long, there are just so many different styles and so many different ways these can be worn.

Courtesy of Forever 21, Ruffled blouse

They are so girlie and they can go with everything from a pencil skirt to a rockin’ pair of jeans. Pair a ruffled blouse with a pair of black slacks and pumps for an evening out or pair it with an a-line skirt and ballet flats for an afternoon of shopping. I love to wear a ruffled blouse cinched at the waist with a big thick belt, with a dark blue jeans and a pair of fabulous heels.

Courtesy of Kohls, cable knit sweater

Another popular trend this season is the chunky knits. I don’t think anything says autumn more than a thick knit fisherman’s sweater. Various necklines, vneck, cowl neck, and turtleneck make knits a choice for every body type and preference.

There are so many different ways that these sweaters can be worn, day or night. A long chunky sweater over tights with a flat is always cute, or a shorter sweater belted at the waist with slacks are both good options for wearing your chunky sweater. My favourite is a big thick sweater with a mini skirt and ankle booties.

Stay tuned for part 2 of Fall Forecast

With a new season comes the need to change things up a bit. A easy way to change your hairstyle is to add bangs. Bangs (or a fringe) can give you a different look quickly. Bangs can do almost as much for your face as makeup. Depending on the cut of the bang, you can give you a younger look or more sultry look.

Bangs also let you change your look without sacrificing your length. A short bang with long hair is always in style. Maybe you like the versatility that a bang gives. Depending on the length of the bang, you can sometimes push it off to the side, with a clip or hairband.

Some of the different types of bangs; wispy and mess, blunt and sleek, or angled.

Do you want to be a sexy housewife?

Want to give it a try? Here’s how you can do it yourself at home.

Wash and dry your hair

Use a large mirror -preferrably a bathroom mirror

Decide what style bang you would like.

Part the area you want for the bang – don’t pull on hair

Use a sharp pair of scissors

Starting from the middle of the bang, begin to cut from the middle of the bang towards the ear, repeat for the other side.

Try to snip a little at a time, don’t cut big hunks of hair.

If your unsure of how long you want your bang to be, start off with a very long bang, try it for a while then cut it shorter if you’d like. You’re going to look so good with these bangs…here’s to a fresh looking you!

While getting the children ready for the first day of school, lets not forget about mama. I’m sure like myself, the last time many of you experienced your own ‘first day of school’ was many years ago. However, you still want to look fab for the children’s first day. Not to worry, here are a few ways you can set a trend, making getting dressed to take the kids to school, beautiful and hassle-free.

If you can, why not sneak a few new items into the cart while shopping for the kids. A new tee shirt in a fresh color instantly makes you look pulled together. For a small amount of money you can update your look. A new shirt can cost as little as 5 or 6 dollars, if you want and can spend more, why not? A wrap dress is always a good investment. You can wear it many different ways. Dress it down with some simple wedge heels or dress it up for a date with a classic pair of pumps and some lots of jewelry.

Since we’re heading into fall, aim to get colors that are more season appropriate like darker muted colors, olive green, deep purples, burgandy etc. A nice touch would be to find a color that really makes your eyes pop. If you have green eyes, a shirt in a similar color will allow your eyes to stand out nicely. I love the combination of aubergines and purples with brown eyes, I find that the give the eye really nice depth. Also, purple is very HOT this season.

Pair this new top with a pair of slacks, a fancy flat completes your look. A pair of slacks will look very polished, but might be a bit pretentious for the bus stop, in that case opt for a nice pair of jeans. However, if you’re going to wear jeans – try to go for a skinny jean or a dark bootcut jean – in other words anything but the light acid wash ‘mom jean’.

Also, if you can why not pick up a new lipstick. Thankfully this season, darker lip colors are in. They are also very easy to pull off. I really like Covergirl lipstick. Its applies smoothly, is full of color and its cheap. You can buy a tube for 5 or 6 dollars, its worth it. If you can spend more - try MAC lipsticks at an average price of 14 dollars, you’re guranteed to get your money’s worth, as long as you pick a color that you really like.

So basically, you can look amazing on the ‘first day of school’ for only 12 dollars. Don’t forget your look on the first day should set the tone for how you’ll look everytime you take the children to the bus stop or to school. Its easy to maintain this look. No one wants to be the mom that arrives with kids in tow, looking harried. Even if you feel that way, once you’ve pulled your outfit together and are wearing a new lipstick you instantly portray a mama that is polished and calm.

Here’s to looking Fabulous!

The dog days of summer are on the way out and some of the items in your makeup bag should be right behind!

You’ve rocked a fabulous look all summer long. The sun streaked hair, the bronzed cheeks, the glossy lips – you looked cute. Now its time to get ready for autumn. I know what you’re thinking – Tiffany, I don’t want to throw away EVERYTHING in my makeup bag, what things can I use into the next season? What things absolutelyhave to go and what should I add? Don’t panic, here I am to answer all of your questions. Lets get started

Toss:

Mascara: This needs to be replaced every 2 to 3 months. It gets dry, gets a funky scent and is a breeding ground for bacteria.

Bright color makeup: Those bright colors like coral and bright pinks are cute..for the summer. They don’t translate as well in the fall and winter. Toss’em

Bronzer: The shimmery goddess look worked well in summer, but you need a new look for autumn.

Pastel shade: Those bumblegum shades of nailpolish and eyeshadow, pretty for summer, no good for autumn

KEEP:

Metallics: Those golden shimmery eyeshadows are a keeper

Rosy blush: This basically never goes out. Keep it, you’ll get plenty of use out of it for autumn

Tinted moisturizer: No need to use heavy foundation yet - stick with a healthy dose of tinted moisturizer

BUY, BUY, BUY

Eyeshadow: to create a smokey eye. You don’t have to use black, try grey, plum or even chocolate brown

Dark lip color: Whether its a stain, lipstick or a gloss – Dark is IN! Don’t be afraid of the browns and dark reds popping up in stores

Mascara: Just because you need to make sure you replace your mascara regularly. Whether you like a volumnizing or a lenghtening mascara, all you need is a couple of coats of black mascara.

Next up: I’m going to show you how to put it all together

With autumn rapidly approaching, the time has come to begin preparing our beauty routine for this season. I hate saying ‘goodbye’ to summer hair and flip flops as much as the next gal. Much like the children on their first day of school, I like to look and feel amazing once the calendar reads ‘September’. Here are a few ways you can begin to prepare for autumn, give them a try.

SCRUB-A-DUB

Your feet have taken a beating. You’ve been wearing flip flops everywhere since the end of April and now your feet show the damage. Dry, cracked heels, not very attractive. Everyday, be sure to use a pumice during your bath time. The pumice will get rid of your cracked heels in no time. Be sure not to neglect the sides of your feet, they need a good scrub as well.

THE EX(FOLIATING) FACTOR

Its very important to begin exfoliating your body on a regular basis. To get rid of all the dry, sunburned skin, start exfoliating the entire body 1-2 times a week. Use either a gentle cleanser with exfoliating gloves or use an exfoliating scrub. You will be sure to have softer feeling skin in no time.

Additionally, make sure you don’t neglect your face and neck. After being exposed to the sun all summer long, exfoliating your face will get rid of dead skin cells, oils, and any debris clogging your pores. Be sure to exfoliate your face at least 2x a week. Becareful not to over exfoliate, it could cause your skin to become extra sensitive.

Don’t forget your lips! Remember to exfoliate your lips, either with a toothbrush or run a damp washcloth over them. That will get rid of any dry skin. Moisturize lips daily with lip balm.

MOISTURE, MOISTURE, MOISTURIZE

Enough with the self tanner, put it away and start using lotion on your body. Your parched summer skin will welcome the moisture. Your skin will look radiant once its been exfoliated and moisturized. On your face be sure to use a moisturizer with 15-30 spf, every day. Don’t forget to moisturize your face and neck at night also.

HAIR YOU’RE IN!

The salt water, sun and chlorine have all taken a toll on your tresses. As the end of the summer approaches, get a good haircut. Now is also the perfect time for a hair treatment, such as a leave-in conditioner or hot oil treatment. This will replenish the mositure that has been taken out of your hair quickly, leaving you with beautiful, shiny and healthy hair for fall.

Next up: Preparing your makeup bag for Fall
