She Bangs

bankgs.jpg

With a new season comes the need to change things up a bit.  A easy way to change your hairstyle is to add bangs.  Bangs (or a fringe) can give you a different look quickly.  Bangs can do almost as much for your face as makeup.  Depending on the cut of the bang, you can give you a younger look or more sultry look.

Bangs also let you change your look without sacrificing your length.  A short bang with long hair is always in style.  Maybe you like the versatility that a bang gives.  Depending on the length of the bang, you can sometimes push it off to the side, with a clip or hairband.

Some of the different types of bangs; wispy and mess, blunt and sleek, or angled.

Want to give it a try?  Here’s how you can do it yourself at home.

  • Wash and dry your hair
  • Use a large mirror  -preferrably a bathroom mirror
  • Decide what style bang you would like.
  • Part the area you want for the bang - don’t pull on hair
  • Use a sharp pair of scissors
  • Starting from the middle of the bang, begin to cut from the middle of the bang towards the ear, repeat for the other side.
  • Try to snip a little at a time, don’t cut big hunks of hair.

If your unsure of how long you want your bang to be, start off with a very long bang, try it for a while then cut it shorter if you’d like.  You’re going to look so good with these bangs…here’s to a fresh looking you!

Makeup Bag Makeover

cosmetics.jpg

The dog days of summer are on the way out and some of the items in your makeup bag should be right behind!

You’ve rocked a fabulous look all summer long.  The sun streaked hair, the bronzed cheeks, the glossy lips - you looked cute.  Now its time to get ready for autumn.  I know what you’re thinking - Tiffany, I don’t want to throw away EVERYTHING in my makeup bag, what things can I use into the next season?  What things absolutelyhave to go and what should I add?  Don’t panic, here I am to answer all of your questions.  Lets get started

Toss:

Mascara:  This needs to be replaced every 2 to 3 months.  It gets dry, gets a funky scent and is a breeding ground for bacteria.

Bright color makeup:  Those bright colors like coral and bright pinks are cute..for the summer.  They don’t translate as well in the fall and winter.  Toss’em

Bronzer:  The shimmery goddess look worked well in summer, but you need a new look for autumn.

Pastel shade:  Those bumblegum shades of nailpolish and eyeshadow, pretty for summer, no good for autumn Continue Reading >>>

New Look for Mom

haggardmom.jpg

 Dear Tiffany,

As I approach my 32nd birthday, I realize that I have no decent clothes.  I have recently, finally lost all of the baby weight.  Problem is, all the clothes that I had are what a mother in her 30’s should be wearing.  They either require too much upkeep (silk, ironing, delicate fabrics) or are just not appropriate when you are fending off a little one with dirty fingers (v-necks too low, low cut jeans now accentuate the stretch marks or worse, the butt crack etc.)  I used to shop at Ann Taylor, Express,  and the Limited.  What chain stores can I shop in now?  If I have a chain store, then I know, that the fashions there are what to look for elsewhere, and I can get the basics there.    I need help!  I am so tired of dressing like a college student, or worse, wearing out my Old Navy stand ins in just 2 wearings!  (The kid is hard on me, and hard on my clothes)

Dear Hotmama,

First of all congratulations on losing all of your baby weight.  We should all be as lucky.  I understand your wanting to creating a new ‘look’ now that you’re a mom, slim and trim.  Now is the perfect time to do that.  Right now you need a look that is easy and pulled together.   Finding your own style is key to perfecting your look.  Whether your style is classic, earthy, glam or funky there are a few items that will make getting dressed simple.
